Reviews
A SQUALID TALE
AVID READER
A good study of human lust and retribution, mostly well_read. Perhaps it suffered in translation, but the macabre parts seemed somewhat bland. One can only surmise what these parts could have become if they had been subjected to the master hand of Poe.

LibriVox populi var. VB
Early novel of human 'brutes' and a murder tale. Students and anyone interested in how the novel went from mannered toward more natural behavior might enjoy this example translated from the French master of the natural style. Thanks to the readers who do a great job. Have to question the summary above as to who is the murderer! are you trying to see if we are paying attention, BellonaTimes? Your fan in Seattle IS!
My first Zola novel
homlesboy
Very Good novel with an interesting plot. The only problem was the reader for chapter 24 has a very thick Spanish accent and it was hard to understand his reading. I think I only really remember or understood about a third of that chapter. Otherwise it was fairly good readers.
A LibriVox Listener
Chapter 24 cannot be understood due to the heavy accent of the reader. it's the worst. Neetu Iyer chapters have wrong pronunciations. Sadly she starts and ends the tale. The rest of the readers are wonderful.
Interesting story
Sudha Iyengar
The story is interesting and all the readers except for Chapter 24 are good. I didn't understand almost the entire Chapter 24, as the accent of the reader is very heavy.
Redo chapter 25
Mary Havens
All the female narrators were great but Chapter 25 was almost unlistenable. Story was good - unexpected!
Great book

Great book, highly recommended. Good readers (a couple of chapters could be better)

The thick accents made some parts of this hard to understand.
