Joseph Andrews
Henry Fielding
Read by Denny Sayers (d. 2015)
Joseph Andrews is a pioneering work of English literature that blends humor and social commentary in a tale of adventure and virtue. Following the good-hearted footman Joseph Andrews, the story unfolds as he embarks on a journey home from London alongside his mentor, the well-meaning but forgetful parson Abraham Adams.
Set against the backdrop of 18th-century England, Fielding's novel explores themes of morality, class, and the nature of true friendship. As Joseph encounters a colorful cast of characters, each with their own quirks and follies, the narrative offers a satirical look at society's pretensions and the human condition.
Fielding's distinctive style combines wit and warmth, making Joseph Andrews not just a comic romance, but also a reflection on the values of the time. This early novel stands out for its rich characterizations and its playful yet critical examination of the world around it.

Reviews
Very good reader!
aleck
There was only one reader throughout all of the book and he had constantly proven the quality of his acting skills and pronounciation. The book is also a very captivating one, showing both great sarcasm and beautiful story telling.
Terrific, slightly quirky reading

I wasn't sure I'd enjoy this when first started but quickly grew to love it! Denny evokes the humor and rich characters all without attempting British accents (thank goodness!) Perfect voice, tone and inflection for Henry Fielding!
Great story

The story is fantastic (if you can follow the wit)! The reader isn't great, but makes a valiant attempt, which you get use to early on, with the humor of the story making up for its readers deficiencies.

Well read. Fun story with lots of twists, full of dry humor, and a few preachy spots.
