The Long Ago offers a reflective glimpse into the boyhood of Jacob William Wright, a lesser-known American poet whose life was shaped by the picturesque surroundings of Carmel-By-The-Sea, California. Through his memories, Wright invites listeners to explore the innocence and wonder of childhood, capturing moments that resonate with nostalgia.

Set against the backdrop of early 20th-century America, this memoir delves into the formative experiences that influenced Wright's poetic voice. His recollections are imbued with a sense of place and time, revealing the beauty and simplicity of life in a small coastal town.

Wright's prose is both intimate and evocative, making The Long Ago a unique addition to the genre of memoirs. It stands out not only for its personal insights but also for its lyrical quality, reflecting the author's deep connection to nature and the world around him.

Lovely

(4 stars)

This was a warm and charming volume of snippets from the author's childhood. I enjoyed it very much, although I fell asleep repeatedly. But it was a lovely book to go to sleep to, and I'm sure I'll return to it again. Many thanks to the narrator for a wonderful read.

Just Beautiful !
