i've just finished this and it's really lovely. i've tried before to read the book, but somehow i couldn't get through it but this recording is what finally got me to finish this novel. Savage is such a nicely paced and dynamic reader. she adds enough twists to each character to make them different and memorable without being overbearing, i really enjoyed this reading, so thank you for doing it. (my original review from a few months ago: only just started, but it's really good so far, nicely read, and well paced.)

I enjoyed a brief glimpse into the times, language, mores of this time period. The insight into daily life of the upper crust and their habits are interesting even if the characters and plot are a bit predictable. The reader was excellent and I enjoyed the story as a respite from our modern world.

Outstanding

Jane Austen read by Karen Savage - who could ask for more? Karen's interpretation is wonderful. Her reading of Captain Wentworth's letter is superb. I also have her Pride and Prejudice down loaded in my library. The best way to enjoy Jane Austen when you're not abke to sit down with the book.

Excellent reading. Karen Savage is skilled and well paced, and her wonderful performance allowed me to get lost in the story. Thank you to Ms Savage!

A pleasent, eventful and a well-paced story

(4.5 stars)

A Pleasent, fun and an easy listen. As a contrast to the tempo of the modern world, the pace of the story was - relaxing - as usual for Austen's novels. Though I found it pleasently more eventful and less dragging than what I felt some of her other works to be. Probuably my favourite Austen novel thus far. If you are looking to read your first Austen novel, I could warmly recommend this one!

My favorite narrator- Karen Savage’s reading of Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice have been like my grown up Good Night Moon since 2014, helping me sleep and get back to sleep. I so appreciate her wonderful talent and her generosity in sharing it with the world. My 2 grown up daughters feel the same. Thank you Karen and all the other Librivox volunteers!

Great insights into a bygone age

This book has the right mixture of good, kind people and selfish, self serving ones. It is hard to imagine women being so frail and uneducated as most in the story were. Ann, the heroine is definitely the exception with her keen observation of true human character. Ms. Savage is the perfect narrator for this book

Persuading you to listen

One of Jane's best plots! This one demonstrates the consistency of character regarding love. There is a bit more evil in a few characters; a bit Dickensian, I think. There is one reader and she is fabulous! Highly recommend this novel and reader!
