A Case For Dr Morelle - Single Episodes

(3.5 stars; 8 reviews)

A Case for Dr. Morelle was a captivating series that aired weekly in 1957 on the BBC Light Programme. The show featured the acerbic criminal psychologist Dr. Morelle and his devoted yet often exasperating secretary, Miss Frayle. Created by Ernest Dudley, the character of Dr. Morelle first emerged during World War Two, aiming to provide a unique twist on the detective genre.

In this series, Dr. Morelle was portrayed by the talented English comic actor Cecil Parker, while Sheila Sim brought Miss Frayle to life. Unlike traditional detectives, Morelle relied on psychological insights rather than just physical clues, conducting interviews to unravel the mysteries of murder, blackmail, and more. His eccentric personality and disdain for humanity made him a memorable character, much to the delight of audiences.

Poor miss frayle

(5 stars)

An excellent niche series of the 1950's. I always feel sorry for miss frayle. She should stand up to Morrell more. Check out the episode in which she is totally ignored when calling a cab. Twice! By the same taxi driver. I think it is the episode called the gambler. Misogyny at its height. Still this was the 1950's. And it was the dear old bbc where men ruled the place. An excellent slice of the past.

I'm a Dr. Morelle Fan

This particular upload was a major disappointment more than have were miss labled and there were numerous duplications. Was very excited when I started and very disappointed when I finished. With the dupes there was nowhere near 12 episodes.

Wrongly named and missing episodes

This is a decent collection, but unfortunately several episodes are repeated, most of them are named incorrectly, and some are missing. A complete and correct collection of all the episodes can be found here: https://archive.org/details/a-case-for-dr-morelle_all-episodes
