The Toys of Peace
Saki
Read by LibriVox Volunteers
The Toys of Peace is a delightful collection of short stories by the master of wit, Saki (H.H. Munro). Published posthumously in 1923, this fifth anthology showcases Saki's sharp humor and keen observations of Edwardian society.
In these tales, Saki explores the absurdities of human nature and the complexities of social interactions, often through the lens of childhood innocence and the toys that shape young imaginations. With a blend of irony and satire, he invites listeners to reflect on the contrasts between the playful world of children and the often serious nature of adult life.
Each story is a testament to Saki's unique voice, filled with clever twists and unexpected endings that challenge conventional norms. Whether you are a longtime fan or new to his work, The Toys of Peace offers a refreshing perspective on the interplay of humor and humanity.

Reviews
An excellent book

I like this, not perhaps as much as Beasts and Super Beasts, but it is still well worth the listen.
