Pollyanna's Debt of Honor

This is the fifth Pollyanna Glad Book.

Pollyanna is kept busy teaching her famous "glad game" to others and thus spreading her own infectious happiness wherever she goes.

There is the unfortunate Lorraine whose great wealth fails to help her adjust herself to the effects of a bad accident, and there is young, inexperienced Paula Merrill who is rescued from disaster by Pollyanna's sympathy and understanding.

While Paula takes some of the "glad girl's" attention, most of her boundless energies are given to Lorraine, for it is to her that Pollyanna owes her "debt of honor." And, indeed, it takes her very best efforts to bring this unhappy, rich girl safely to the arms of the man she loves. (From the dust jacket) (6 hr 46 min)

Surprising Content

(4 stars)

Nearly as darling as the rest, but there is a good bit of the plot centered around love, marriage, and a girl faced with an illicit relationship with a married man. It surprised me since I would consider Pollyanna to be for a young, innocent audience.

sweet story
