SANWAL
The Friday Play: Vox Bopp Fri 23rd Oct 1998, 21:00 on BBC Radio 4 FM By Lesley Bruce. A wry tribute to the Hale-Bopp comet. Director Claire Grove Thomas Bopp: Kerry Shale Alan Hale: Ian Porter Lorna: Alison Pettitt With Rachel Atkins, Kate Harper, Gavin Muir, David Brooks and Shiv Grewal. Hale-Bopp was an unusually bright comet that flew by Earth, reaching its closest approach to the planet in 1997. It was most spectacular in the Northern Hemisphere and visible to the naked eye for about 18 months. Hale-Bopp was probably one of the most viewed comets in history. It provided quite the sky show, being 1,000 times brighter than Halley's Comet at the time of its discovery, NASA said. Its twin blue-and-white tails were clearly visible even from light-polluted areas such as Chicago. space.com
