(4.3 stars; 5 reviews)

Sophy Leigh and Douglas Shafto come to Burma on the same ship in 1912. They come for different reasons. Through them, we learn about British India in the time between 1912 and 1914, just before WWI.
Academics view Bithia Mary Croker as one of the best authors who wrote about British India.

I’m glad folks volunteer to read. However, they need to look up the pronunciation of unfamiliar words. Some words were unrecognizable. The readers need to be told how to pronounce the characters’ names, especially if it’s the main character. The story might have been interesting, but I spent much of my listening time cringing at mangled pronunciation.
