Dick Powell at his BEST!

(5 stars)

Dick Powell's best performance. Starring in Rogue's Gallery before this really helped him improve his craft. The chemistry between him and the female lead is absolutely magnetic. You will LOVE this seriea

My favorite radio detective, in great quality sound!

I absolutely love old-time radio mystery shows, and Richard Diamond is my absolute favorite (closely followed by Powell's other detective show, Rogue's Gallery). I thought I'd heard the all on podcasts, but there are so many more here than I've ever heard. Plus, the quality here is fabulous for the old radio shows! Occasionally I forget its an old show, lol. Dick Powell made the transition from musician/singer to radio detective wonderfully. Diamond is a great character, with a somewhat lighter tone than most of the hard-boiled detective of the era. His "who's on first" style banter with police Lt Levinson, crooning to girlfriend Helen, Well written, and acted. I only wish that Powell had stayed with acting, as his voice and manner was a perfect fit for my idea of a great PI.

This and Sherlock w. Basil Rathbone are My #1s!

Suave, snappy, sultry.. this show is supercool, imo, Really like it.
