For other low grade quality episodes you can look to other sets available here on archive.org...I started working on this Version 2.0 set in 2018 and have finally finished it. For the original Version 1.0 set, I spent many years tracking down these shows from MANY difference sources (Official Cassette, LP Vinyl, Digital etc) and enhancing shows that are of lower caliber quality so as to try to remove muffling, overblown sharp highs, enhance vocals, tighten bass, clean audio, remove hiss, pops, normalize volume level throughout the entire episode etc. On every episode I also normalized the audio levels of audience clapping throughout the episode and loud music portions to be very close to that of the actual performance instead of 4-5 times the volume.  ALL episodes in this collection are of Very Good, Excellent, or Perfect audio quality, I have done my very best to find ALL available good quality source material but it has been very difficult and arduous. I have intentional left out episodes which i could not restore to this Grade Quality.  I gave the Version 1.0 set to www.otrcat.com in 2017 and you can see my name listed on the product listing page under the image of Vincent Price, credited for Digital Remastering which they are now selling it for 165 USD.  Many Rare Shows Not Available Elsewhere!!! Episodes labeled (R) at the end of the title are either Rehearsal episodes or Replacement episodes ALL mp3 files are properly tagged and titled. MP3 metadata is also complete with artist, genre, album, album art etc so they will ALL properly show on ANY mp3 player or ipod

There are no corrupt files in this collection. If downloading the entire set at once caused errors, try using a download manager like JDownloader as the severs at archive are somewhat slow. Please ammend your review so that it does not cast a negative light on this collection and the incredible work which went into it over 10 years

Ginger Rogers on Lux Radio Theatre

This superb compilation has the following six performances by Ginger Rogers for Lux Radio Theatre: 12. "The Curtain Rises" with Warren William (October 12, 1936) 42. "Brief Moment" with Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. (February 14, 1938) 64. "Stage Door" with Rosalind Russell (February 20, 1939) 86. "She Married Her Boss" with George Brent (September 25, 1939) 98. "Bachelor Mother" with Fredric March (January 22, 1940) 131. "Kitty Foyle" with Dennis Morgan (May 4, 1941) However that is only one half of Rogers' appearances on Lux Radio. Here are the other six performances: "A Free Soul" with Lionel Barrymore (November 1, 1937) "Fifth Avenue Girl" with Edward Arnold (December 16, 1940) "Tom, Dick, and Harry" with Burgess Meredith (September 8, 1941) {recorded and released for Lux but also released by Hollywood Radio} "The Major & the Minor" with Ray Milland (May 31, 1945) "Lady in the Dark" with Ray Milland (January 1, 1945) "It Grows on Trees" (November 16, 1953) Their sound quality is noticeably inferior to the recordings in this archive. Notes: 12: Rogers appeared in 2 films with Warren William, "Gold Diggers of 1933" and 1934's "Upperworld." 42: Rogers was a frequent visitor at Pickfair and a great friend of both Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks; but her co-star in "Brief Moment" is not in fact Fairbanks, but his son, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., with whom she appeared in 1938's "Having Wonderful Time" as well as several radio programs (other than Lux). Many years later they appeared together on tv in 'The Love Boat.' 64: Many critics wrote that Rogers easily outperformed Katharine Hepburn, her co-star in the 1937 film version of "Stage Door." Here are some of the typical comments: 'a much more rounded performance' and 'possibly the biggest surprise here is that Rogers is at least the equal of Hepburn in dramatic scenes' and 'her command and range of emotions consistently leaves Hepburn looking curiously flat." This radio performance by Rosalind Russell is also far superior to the wildly overrated Hepburn. 86: Rogers and Bette Davis were lifelong friends, and Bette recommended her favorite leading man George Brent to Ginger for the 1935 film 'In Person.' George became another great friend, and they tried several times to perform together again, but their schedules never lined up; this radio show was the only other chance they got to work together. 98: 'Bachelor Mother' was the third time that a Ginger Rogers movie turned her leading man into a big star. Fred Astaire, Jimmy Stewart, and here, David Niven all had their breakout roles across from Ginger. 131: Rogers won an Academy Award for her performance across from Dennis Morgan in 'Kitty Foyle.'

I cannot express how thankful I am for this collection! The quality of these episodes is superb and the hard work and dedication is evident and I am tremendously grateful! I'd also like to express my thanks that you not only provided the best quality, but you normalized the volume of clapping/laughter. I don't know how you did it but that is something I'd love to be able to do for other shows as well! Having to constantly turn up the volume to hear the show and then quickly turn down when the laughter blasts becomes tedious after awhile. I don't have that trouble with these episodes since you balanced it so well. This is a wonderful collection of Lux Radio Theater and I cannot speak highly enough of it. Thanks once again!

Some Files Corrupt

Trying to download the full 338 files in the zip format but it keeps failing. I managed to get 11.4GB of the 13.4GB zip file. I tried individual files some download and some almost complete then fail. I guess there are 2GB of of files that are corrupt and it is kind of tedious to try and download each file individually. I hope someone could correct this problem. Tried one more time and it worked. YEA!!!!!

Lux review and a question for Mr. Gary

Thank you for your heroic preservation efforts on the Lux Radio Theatre collection. No words can adequately acknowledge the months of labor and artistry you have put into this restoration. Can you tell me if this 2.0 edition is available anywhere on CD? I have a 96 year old blind friend who is not able to navigate the internet but he eagerly receives the CDs that I send him. Thanks again!

Better than the movies

When I finally did see the movies, I was disappointed. The Lux versions seem more enjoyable to me. Unfortunately, the second one is not available on this page. Thank you for putting in all the tedious and dedication to restoring these old great shows, these young kids don't know what they are missing its up to the parents to make them catch a episode of Lux, or,Superman, The Green Hornet make them start with that and move them to different shows as they get older, AGAIN THANK YOU

I grew up in Cape Town , South Africa. Where I regularly listened to the South African produced version of the Lux Radio Theatre and many other shows , we only got TV in 1975.To this day I still prefer radio.Will start on this and report here again. Thanks to all those who made this possible.
