How Did I Miss This One?

I thought I had read all of the GLH books when I was young, but Betty escaped me. Thanks, volunteers, for making it available. The plot seems unlikely; family pressure forces a girl to the altar against her will--but it still happens. A friend of mine married a man she didn't really like because he just wouldn't go away, and this was in the 1980s! This book is lighter on the religious elements, concentrates more on Betty's predicament and her new romance. Very pleasant
A New Favorite GLH!

Well narrated and exciting plot line involving a runaway bride, and featuring extremely bad “bad” characters and extremely good “good” characters. GLH often (though not always) has one-sided characters , and this plot is not different. For all that the hero and heroine are ideally perfect, I did enjoy this one. I did feel like the heroine was a wee bit helpless (although props for running away!) and rather liked the Jane character better. Definitely a book I’ll relisten to.
