X Minus One - Old Time Radio
X Minus One
nitially a revival of NBC's Dimension X (1950-51), X Minus One is widely considered among the finest science fiction dramas ever produced for radio. The first 15 episodes were new versions of Dimension X episodes, but the remainder were adaptations of newly published science fiction stories by leading writers in the field, including Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick, Robert A. Heinlein, Frederik Pohl and Theodore Sturgeon, along with a few original scripts.[1] Episodes of the show include adaptations of Robert Sheckley's "Skulking Permit," Bradbury's "Mars Is Heaven," Heinlein's "Universe" and "The Green Hills of Earth", " Pohl’s "The Tunnel under the World," J. T. McIntosh’s "Hallucination Orbit," Fritz Leiber’s "A Pail of Air" and George Lefferts' "The Parade." Complete Episode Details

X minus one is really good!

I love the humorous stories . . . "The Trap" is great, as are "Chain of Command," "A logic named Joe," "How to," "Protective Mimicry," "Lifeboat Mutiny" (with Leon Janney) to name a few. There are only a handful of weak or lame stories in the whole bunch. Try the funny ones first would be my suggestion to 1st time listeners.
Usually great, but some dogs
THE Mr. Cluff
I usually love X-minus one, but i just listened to "JAYWALKER" and boy, is it a stinker. If you are into the best-of-the-worst, this one is right up there. Sappy love story with insecure wife risking the lives of others just to get some reassurance from her pilot husband. The show overall gets high ratings, though.
Wonderful....

Love these old stories. It shows how far we've come. They give us a look into yesterday as well as the intended glimpse of tomorrow. Great listening!
