The Moon Maid

Read by Thomas A. Copeland

(4.4 stars; 115 reviews)

Sabotage accidentally takes Earth's first manned interplanetary expedition to the Moon, where a sublunar adventure ensues, involving two intelligent species and a good deal of fighting as well as romance. The perceptive reader will perceive the author's peculiar notions concerning the behavior of volcanos, an offense against scientific fact that is hard to pardon in a writer of science fiction, but if it can be overlooked, the variety of incident and the fast pace of the action, full of surprises, amply repay the reader's generous indulgence. Reviews

Good book and narrator

(4 stars)

Audio quality is a bit low (on my device at least), but the narrator is nice to listen to! This book is fairly standard fair for Edgar Rice Burroughs. I wish the other two parts that this book sets up were also available since this is more like an intro and the better stories come in book 2 and 3.

A good story and a great reader.

(4 stars)

It is a good story but ends abruptly, which leaves the listener hanging. I assume there are other novels following that continue the story. The reader does an excellent job. Thanks LibriVox.

Couldn't listen

(2 stars)

Nearly all the S's are pronounced with a shrill whistle - I couldn't focus on the story. It's a shame because the reader has a lovely voice otherwise.

All a bit fanciful

If you enjoy E.R.B. you will enjoy this well narrated tale, all be its similarity to his other works.

(4 stars)

Too funny the lack of knowledge due to the year in which it was written.

Enjoyed
