The author's purpose is to assist suburban and farm wives with the latest technology and most efficient processes for preserving fruit for winter use. Her instructions on the importance of maintaining sterility after the jars are sealed, and she explains frugal ways to get the most flavor and pectin out of the fruit. Her list of necessary equipment to have on hand is formidable.(dI on't think many people own a 'wash boiler ' any more. )
