The Book of Enoch, is an ancient, non-canonical Jewish work. Estimates vary on the actual dates of authorship. However, Enoch was alive during the Antediluvian period as recorded in the Hebrew Bible. Fragments of the text, were discovered in cave 4 of the Qumran caves in 1948.

Enoch, born in the 7th generation from Adam, was the grandfather of Noah. Enoch prophesied concerning the judgments on mankind (Jude 14-15 & Enoch 1:9). Enoch says his prophetic words were not for his generation but for a “generation of elect and righteous people far in the future that would be living in the day of tribulation when all the wicked and godless are to be removed.” (Enoch 1:1). He compiled his visions and prophecies into a book of parables and passed the secrets on to Noah (The book of Enoch 68:1).

Among the secrets passed down, Enoch gives a more detailed accounting of the relationship between the fallen angels (watchers) and the daughters of men in Genesis 6:2-4. He reveals the secrets of the luminaries and the weather and concludes with a prophesy concerning the condition of man and purging of the evil on earth. - Summary by CJ Plogue (4 hr 28 min)

I just love to listen to CJ Plogue read. This used to be part of the scriptures and still is in the Ethiopian religion. I can see why it should be a major part of the scriptures. The Book of Enoch solidified my unshakable belief in God the creator. This book fills in a lot of blanks as far as the flood and the nephilim. If you know the bible well then I suggest giving this book a listen. Believe me, you won't regret it.

loved it

Great Narration, Translation is a bit tricky at times

(4 stars)

First of all, the reading was excellent. There sounds like a couple of spots where the narrator trips up a little, but when you're trying to say names like Shemihazah, Arteqoph, and Armumahel, I can't really fault a person for slowing down and pausing for a brief moment. Heck, I got to pause just to read them in my head. If I have one beef though with it, it is with the translation. It sound a little too KJV-ish. That is the translator went with a lot of older English words and phrases, words like "ye" and a lot of "shalls", and just older phraseology that is more at home in the King James Bible then even in the time period that the translator lived. Now I can't knock the translator too much, that type of translation would have been somewhat expected when he wrote it, but it does make it somewhat hard to follow at times, or at least makes listening to it a bit distracting.
