Candide (version 3)
Voltaire
Read by John Van Stan
Ever since 1759, when Voltaire wrote "Candide" in ridicule of the notion that this is the best of all possible worlds, this world has been a gayer place for readers. Voltaire wrote it in three days, and five or six generations have found that its laughter does not grow old. - Summary by Philip Littell (4 hr 33 min)

Excellent

Enough has been written about Candide over the centuries. I found this recording excellent, the narrator gives it 100%; his vocal characterizations are enjoyable and facilitate comprehension.
Fabulous!

A lot like Gulliver’s Travels. Voltaire’s tale is just as relevant today as the day it was written. Brilliantly read.
incredible!

The reader made the book come alive. He has a gift and I would love to listen to more books read by him. He had great pacing, appropriate inflection, wonderfully diverse character voices.
