In the Field (1914-1915)
Marcel Dupont
Read by FNH
I have merely tried to make a written record of some of the hours I have lived through during the course of this war. A modest Lieutenant of Chasseurs, I cannot claim to form any opinion as to the operations which have been carried out for the last nine months on an immense front. I only speak of things I have seen with my own eyes, in the little corner of the battlefield occupied by my regiment. (Summary by the author) (5 hr 8 min)

Fantastically written. Fantastically read. More evidence that true life is indeed just as exciting, touching and memorable as any work of fiction. Grateful for the gift of this.
I really loved listening to this ,I couldn't stop !

This is a very interesting book filled with equal parts adventure and misery. This however seems to exalt the subtle humanities that often go overlooked and taken for granted in times of peace. One thing that really spoke to me and painted the most beautiful picture was Sister Gabrielle and the other Flemish sisters in the convent who selflessly gave their beds to 2 ragged filthy soldiers in their time of need. It is a reminder that even during the horrors of the bloodiest world war to date, when God is served through one's actions it is a beacon of light and love that conquers the darkest of hours. Even though she is long gone, Sister Gabrielle is immortalized by her service to the Lord! Hallelujah!
A Good Read

I have but one negative thing to say about this book and that is, the ending sucks. The book ends in the middle of the story, or at least that's what it seems like. Other than that this is a good read. It's a history lesson about WWI trench warfare from an eyewitness pov.
fantastic listening
