A SPACER'S RULES FOR SUCCESS
1.) Never be desperate
2.) Never do more than your job description
3.) And never, ever go down the well...

Ejoq needs work. The tramp starship GRIZZELDA needs a gunner. But what starts as a last-minute personnel replacement soon turns into something far more, with a non-functional duty station, his predecessor's emotional fallout, and a deeply buried secret that will change the course of nations.

Through a dark odyssey across a violent, frozen world, and a haze of lies and shadowy clues, Ejoq will face frenzied zealots, frightened elitists, and dangerous mercenaries on an unknown mission.

Revolution, intrigue, and battles among the stars. Better take a deep breath...

Those that have happened to come across my reviews over various tories might think me a bit harsh at times. I just believe that at the very least, an author and future reader deserves an honest and truthful description... at leeway from my perspective. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. from the characters and story, right down to the author's flawless presentation. Such a great story. I think I also appreciated how the story was sci-fi, but for once, didn't reply on an alien race hell bent on the human races' elimination, to be included in the genre. Could've easily been set in present day around about island, or even in the past. Again, masterful reading! The visuals I conjured were wonderful. At times, I almost felt the cold. And at others, I get the solace of a simple shared human connection. This book will certainly take you on a thrill ride while you are forced to draw conclusions. I look forward to the next in the series. I hope you enjoy this one they way I did. Thank you.

To use a technical term - brilliant!! I am so pleased that David Collins-Rivera decided to invest his writing talents into book 2 of the Stardrifter series making it a substantial piece of work; significantly longer than book 1. David's talents also extend to his first-rate narration and ability to differentiate characters and impute them with individual personalities. David has that ability through his writing to paint a vivid picture of locations and to develop such unique characters. In this book...he moves seemlessly through situations that are thrilling...sensationl...gripping...full of pathos or simply very thoughtful. Importantly...this is a sci-fi book and I enjoyed David's use of technology and a space context. You can't help but have empathy with our lead character...an underdog with understated abilities just trying to do good. I am so pleased to have come across David Collins-Rivera's work. So looking forward to book 3 and Ejoq's continuing journey...wherever that may be.

This shifting story has been my companion for the last few days and l have to say that being lost in a completely different world has taken my imagination for a spirited up and down ride that has filled my mind with a rush of ideas. This author has an on growing sense of realism that gets better the longer he writes and doesn't get above the story as he progresses making this book a joy to listen to and one l would recommend to anyone with a wish to switch off from every day life , do go ahead and try it !

Don't get better, held me curious all the way. David is now my favourite reader/writer, he is amazing in voices and it feels like i listen to an entire ensemble of actors. Ejoq is an entertaining character and little of a anti hero that rise to the occasions. Thanks DCR, for many hours of entertainment.

fabulous!

I was a little put off by the title, but the story was well-written, suspenseful and read superbly by the author. He’s great with voices. I was also impressed by the production values. Well done! I enjoyed this story so much I’m going to download the first book and look for others on Scribl.com.

Outstanding. I really enjoyed the whole audiobook and was sad it ended. I think you did a great job on the whole production. Like others that commented, I am a space sci-fi junkie and have listened to everything I can find. From Sigler, Lowell, and to every Star Wars audio ...

I really enjoyed 'Mother Load' and 'Street Candles' is great so far. (Half way through). I thank David Collins-Rivera for such a detailed and entertaining adventure. I can't help laughing every time I get to the disclaimer at the end of each chapter. It's so obvious that the author is ...

Shawn, Thanks so much! Oh yeah, my buds and I played Traveller for years! It's a definite influence on the Stardrifter universe. Loved that game! C.J.Cherry's Union/Alliance novels also were also a big part of my life, and it probably shows in this novel. So glad you're enjoying it!
