Clarissa Harlowe, or the History of a Young Lady - Volume 9
Samuel Richardson
Read by Nicole Lee
In Volume 9 Clarissa hastens to her fate and the various culprits reap the consequences of their crimes of indifference, cruelty and neglect. One of the earliest and certainly the longest novel in the English language, with a wide-ranging influence not only on the English novel, but also on nineteenth century European literature at large, it is gripping, twisted and a magnificent dramatic soap opera.

Wow!

The listening time is about 90 hours, although I pushed it faster by speeding up the playback, but it is truly worth the time. Richardson pulls everything together for a magnificent conclusion. Pay close attention when you listen to the both parts of the conclusion. There’s some important stuff there! Beautifully read. Nicole also got better with each chapter. I am very glad I listened. Very rewarding.

I thought it might take me awhile to slog through 9 volumes but it turned out to be very engaging all the way.

Thank you Nicole for bringing these star crossed characters to life. I am finishing the final book, completely saddened and disappointed that she wouldn't forgive Lovelace. I would have forgiven him and moved on. Clarissa was not yet awakened to her sensuality He would have awakened her like Sleeping Beauty and made her happy. Her family got just what they deserved. One of the best books I have ever read. Thank you Nicole...you were superb
