Bones Burnt Black
Stephen Euin Cobb
Read by Stephen Euin Cobb
A serial killer—brilliant, methodical and suicidal—sabotages a large commercial spacecraft's engines to set it on an eight-day trajectory to burn up in the sun, then remains aboard ship to murder and torment its passengers and crew. With no other ships near enough to reach them, rescue is impossible, and the few survivors fight their unknown enemy while trying to invent a way to survive the growing heat of the sun.
"A riveting and realistic portrayal of space travel gone wrong, and of a crew who must fight for their survival. Bones Burnt Black is exciting, and expertly told. A must-listen." -- J.C. Hutchins, author of the 7th Son trilogy

A great story! Kept me glued. Very good reading too. I like how all the characters were developed except for the eventual villain of the work. Can't tell you why exactly (and no spoilers) but something was different.
I liked it but...
The Reader
Well, It was a good audio book. Only problem is the narration. The person is utterly unemotional. It's a good book just that voice took off one star for it. Good but not good. One more thing. What the heck is with the music. It is not some dance you are at! People's lives are at stake! Totally seems as if the sun isn't part of the book. Or any of the suspense for that matter. That is whg that brought it down another half star. So much potential for this book. Not anymore!

... skip it. The reading was absolutely emotionless, with awkward pauses and inflections ala Shatner's Captain Kirk. The blues music between chapters destroyed the already weak aura of suspense, and the story was predictable to the point that I ALMOST didn't call it because it couldn't have been THAT obvious. ...

I gave this an honest go, but I couldn't get past episode 2. I had a few problems with the writing (mini spoilers ahead). First of all is the sexism. We have one of the protagonists who's just had a woman die in his arms (who was murdered), his ship ...

For sure this is a predictable story, but interesting characters and interesting situation. I really enjoyed listening. I'd like more from this author.

I am agree with Geoph. Emotionless reading is useless. There should be something exciting suspense in the story to make it readable. Story which is not having suspense hardly could run these days.
