When you're six inches tall and can fly, life can be tough in a big persons world. What better then than to be partnered with a seven foot troll. She’s the brawn and I’m the brains, and if you believe that I have a castle to sell you. She joined the guard to gain respectability, I joined the guard to escape. I’m Gurt and she’s Elanore Fursk. Don’t forget it.

In the darkened alleys of Delvenport the discovery of a naked corpse sets off a surprising chain of events. Leads will unravel at every turn, although Elanore appears to know what’s going on. I just tag along for the ride. With the rising tide of drugs, magic and ambition that threatens to engulf our city, trouble will lurk in our every shadow. But as long as no-one puts a knife in Elanore, or calls me a girly voiced fairy then the bodies won’t be piled too high.

Otherwise all bets are off!

Am interesting pair of detectives

(3.5 stars)

A fun and funny fantasy detective story that I enjoyed quite a bit. The characters were what drew me into the story. The unlikely and unconventional police pair, one of which is also the narrator, had a very nice dynamic, and the dialogue was witty and funny between them. The plot was okay, although the ending with the great reveal felt just a tad rushed to me. The reading was great, too, with just the right amount of emotional immersion in the tones.

Imagine a dragonfly buzzing a dinosaur and you can get into the feeling of The Spiral Tattoo. It took me a while to get the picture of Gurt riding on Elanore's shoulder into my mind, but when I did, I smiled at it from then on. The juxtaposition of their ...

Enjoyed it tremendously! I honestly didn't think I would...but after a few minutes of the first chapter, I knew I had to hear the rest. Your wife (my assumption) does an outstanding job as narrator, and although I had to struggle a little bit with her Aussie accent, I found ...

The best thing about Kiwi authors is the Kiwiness of their characters, and only a Kiwi reader can do them justice. This is a delightful book written by someone who obviously loves life. Well done you two! And thank you from vision impaired people everywhere for making it available here. ...

Thanks for the comment Divya :-) Yeah. It was pointed out that since I hardly referred to Elanore as Fursk that people might get confused so that was why the change in series title... :-)

very good story

the story is different which I liked my only complaint is that the main characters lacked depth and I didn't feel any connection with them.

Loved the twists and turns of events in the story. Great job with the narrating as well. The accent painted a great picture in an interesting eastern world.
