so many thanks for your reading of the book David. I was hooked from the first minute . I know this book is well over a hundred years old but it was as fresh and captivating as if it was new .

5 stars for the reader, 3 stars for the book . Not the best Sherlock story in my opinion, ( reminded one quite a bit of the set up of A Study in Scarlet) it was a bit bloody for me, with some great plot twists, though. But the reader!!! He did all of the individual voices( even for the minor characters!) and his accents were perfect! I felt that I could see each and every character and scene in my mind's eye. Thanks so much, Mr. Clarke!
Exciting and Brilliant!

I LOVE the Sherlock Holmes books!! I have been particularly enjoying these recordings by David Clark! He reads very well, and his voices make the story even easier to follow. He brings such life to these characters that I can visualize the whole scene while I do dishes, vacuum or commute. Thank You Mr. Clark for doing this project!!!!!
Words fail me.

the reading by Mr. David is so good. I am die-hard fan of Holmes, so I have obviously read this a hundred times. The reading by Mr. David Clarke is so great and brings each character come alive. Nuances if different tones, accents are superb. He is one of the best readers I have come across at Librivox.
One of Conan Doyle's best.

I thought I had read all of the Sherlock Holmes stories written by Doyle, I don't know how I missed this one. In my opinion, this is one of Doyle's best Holmes stories. The narrator did a splendid job reading, he made a great story even better! thank you.
Bravo from Borneo

Excellent novel and as always so sublimely read by David Clarke. This is ACD at his gritty best. With all four novels under my belt, I'm now onto the shorter stories and looking forward to them with exceeding excitement and anticipation.
Love every minute of the The Last Valley

Usually, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's longer adventures of Sherlock Holmes seem a bit tedious, but enjoyable nonetheless. I must say that this particular adventure was quite singular for the suspense with which it held me captive.
