(4.1 stars; 20 reviews)

"The Adventures of Maisie" was a radio comedy series starring Ann Sothern as the under-employed entertainer Maisie Ravier. This show is a spin-off of Sothern's successful 1939-1947 movie series. It popularized the 1940s catchphrase "Liiiikewiiise, I'm suuuuurrrre." Sponsored by Eversharp, the first series ran on CBS from July 5, 1945, to March 28, 1947.

The show aired on Thursdays at 8:30 PM during the first two months, then moved to Wednesdays at 9:30 PM (1945-46), and finally to Fridays at 10:30 PM (1946-47). From 1949 to 1952, Maisie was in syndication with Pat McGeehan as Eddie Jordan. From January 11, 1952, through December 26, 1953, Maisie aired on MBS.

Supporting cast members included Hy Averback, Arthur Q. Bryan, Hans Conried, Virginia Gregg, and many others. The announcers were John Easton and Jack McCoy, with music provided by the Harry Zimmerman Orchestra and Albert Sack.

Pete and Repeat

(4 stars)

Ignore the clean up campaigner complainer. It is wonderful, historical, and fun. Thank you.

too many repeated episodes

(1 star)

DON'T DOWNLOAD THESE Go to https://archive.org/details/Maisie to find a set without misnamed and duplicate episodes. Even with the "repeated at" in the titles of some, there are other episodes that are repeats of previous one. The set needs to be cleaned up. 11/16/17 UPDATE: changed rating to 1 star because of all the whining The idea that scripts were reused is laughable - this was a single, short-lived series. Adding several bad names to any one file has nothing to do with reusing scripts. Repeats waste bandwidth and time. If your time is of no value, that is your problem. However, to make others waste time because you were to lazy to check for duplicates before uploading is unacceptable.

OK so I'm new to this Web site, but it's free to join or not to join. The downloads are free or a donation to Paypal or not and you mean to say some body can find some thing to complain about. Sounds like a lady I knew back in '65. I could not be happier with this web site and especially the AOM programs. I have no idea how much work it took to add them to this web site but thank you! who ever did the work and made them available to me. I can't believe FREE!

Re Maisie Repeats

(5 stars)

To reviewer "perister": I am sorry to hear you feel so strongly about the "repeats" made in the Maisie file. If you only knew how long it took me to listen to those episodes and (with the the help of Digital Deli Too) put them all in CORRECT order, you more than likely would reconsider your judgement. Those repeats, some of which (if you listen more carefully to all of the episodes) are re-used scripts. Each file has limited space, therefore not ALL information can be entered. In that case, I must leave it up to the judgement of those downloading the file, whether they want to listen to and keep the re-used scripts, or not. Hmmmm speaking of which - it appears that in the short time, since I uploaded Maisie to IA, there have been 557 happy campers who have already downloaded the file. The knowledge that this wonderful show will never become extinct, is quite rewarding. Anyway, thank you for your output. All opinions are valued.
