Adventures By Morse
Carlton E Morse
Adventures By Morse – 1944 The title of this series refers to the writer and director of the show, Carlton E. Morse. There were 52 episodes of this thirty-minute adventure series featuring a San Francisco detective, Captain Bart Friday, and his sidekick, Skip Turner. Captain Friday and Skip roamed the world together seeking danger and solving mysteries. The stories told bordered on the supernatural, though there was usually a rational explanation for the superbly written terror-chillers.

Well, mostly. There seem to be two groups of stories here, The longer adventures are first rate but the 3 episode stories are just so-so. All in all, "City of the Dead" is about as good as OTR gets. All of them have better than average quality, few pops/crackles and clear voices. They all also exhibit Morse's ability to weave multiple characters around a story with getting lost or making it a cumbersome listen. the captain is an engaging character but Skip is really quite irritating.
The creaking door is not always a ghost coming in...
Media Lover
Love ADVENTURES BY MORSE and I LOVE A MYSTERY series by the legendary Carlton E. Morse. He set the trend for writing stories that may seem supernatural in the beginning but will turn out to be just natural incidents committed by criminals. These series inspired the SCOOBY DOO cartoon series.
Excellent Collection

I'm so happy to find this full series. For years I've only had 8 episodes of "City of the Dead" and I'm so glad I can finally fill in those missing episodes.
Well now I wouldn't say that.
